Manila International Auto Show 2012

       Manila International Auto Show 2012 to be  held at World Trade Center in  Senator  Gil Puyat  Avenue ( Buendia) ,  Pasay City , Metro Manila with a focus on Automobiles, Spare Parts and Accessories.

The Manila International Auto Show is an annual venue for car buyers and enthusiasts alike to take a closer look at the latest models and significant concepts from the Philippines premiere auto event. Car lovers from all ages and all walks of life will surely converge here for a chance to look at those gleaming cars with beautiful usherettes.

The show also aims to foster industry cooperation and provide a stimulus to spur demand for the automotive industry. Together with media, the private sector and government initiatives, MIAS aims to promote the local automotive manufacturing industry and serve as an engine for growth.

It is the Philippines’ largest and most attended car show, with over 85,000 attendees and an exhibit area of over 30,000 square meters  The event features the best concept cars, hybrid cars, and other automotives that will change the way we look at motoring.

With the theme “motorsports,” the highlights of the four-day MIAS 2012 include the Russ Swift Precision Driving Stunt Show, the Car of the Year Awards 2012, the MIAS Classic and Custom Car Competition, the European Mobile Media Competition, various car launches, test drives, motorsports exhibits, special demonstrations, and a car photography contest.

Since 2005, Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) has already opened its doors about half a million visitors who trek to this annual automotive pilgrimage. MIAS had only one vision – to put up a world-class exhibition venue for the Philippine automotive industry. Its maiden effort in 2005 featured 15 auto brands with a total exhibition floor area of just a little over 6,000 square meters, and it has since grown to over 26,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor exhibit space, over 400 car exhibits and over 30 automotive and motorcycle brands, creating an unparalleled excitement only an international grade auto show can provide.

Participating car brands are Audi, Jeep, Jaguar, Mini, Ford, Honda, Isuzu, Hyundai, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Chrysler, Dodge, Nissan, BMW and other upcoming car brands.

Melchora Aquino Bi-centennial celebrations

Melchora Aquino or more popularly called Tandang Sora is said to be the mother of Katipunan . Part of the citywide celebration is that the body of the heroine will be transferred from her final resting place to be transferred to the  Tandang Sora shrine located at Banlat in Quezon City.

On January 5, Tandang Sora’s remains will be exhumed and placed in a flag-draped casket that will be carried by a horse-drawn carriage during a funeral procession from the Himlayang Pilipino to Quezon City Hall.

Military and police personnel will provide escort assistance during the funeral procession.

There will be a funeral ceremony within the city hall compound  where people will have the opportunity to offer their final respects to Tandang Sora, who has been recognized for her exceptional heroic contributions in the struggle for Philippine independence and liberation despite her advanced age.

City hall officials will be joined by descendants of Tandang Sora, especially officers and members of the “Mga Apo ni Melchora (Tandang Sora) Aquino Association Inc., in welcoming the heroine’s remains.

An overnight vigil will also be held at QC Hall hosted by the cultural and tourism affairs office, office for senior citizens affairs, scholarship and youth development program, general services department and the Liga ng mga Barangay.

On January 6, the 200th birthday of Tandang Sora, a memorial mass in honor of heroine will be held 8:00 am at the QC Hall before her remains will be finally transferred to the Tandang Sora shrine for re-interment.

Tandang Sora’s remains will also be carried by a horse-drawn carriage during a funeral procession, this time, from QC Hall to the Tandang Sora shrine.
