The Summer Games of the XXX Olympiad is scheduled from July 27 to August 12, 2012 to take place in London, United Kingdom. This will also be the second time for Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II to grace the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games , her first one was in 1976 in Montreal, Canada.
These 30th Olympic Games London 2012, has adopted the slogan of “Live as One” and the motto of “Inspire a Generation”.

London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948. London was selected as the host city for the 2012 Olympics out of the nine cities that submitted bids by 15 July 2003.
Over 10,000 athletes from 204 National Olympics Committees (NOCs) are expected to participate. In the course of 19 days, athletes from around the globe will compete in 26 fields, in 39 different sports and in 34 separate venues. London 2012 Olympic Games begin on 27th July 2012 with the theme slogan ‘Inspire a Generation’.
There will be 11 Filipino athletes that will be competing in the 30th Olympiad.

The Philippines had begun issuing commemorative stamps of Olympic Games since the 17th Rome Olympics in 1960.
stamps were printed by Government Printing Bureau (Japan) with Perforation 13×12 ¼

According to a Philpost employee, as part of the memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) 5% of the sales proceeds will go to POC since there is the use of the POC and IOC logo.
Note : As of this writing there was a heavy demand from stamp and even Olympic memorabilia collectors in the country but also abroad. The author had waited for several hours at the Manila Main Central Post Office.
