The Bayanihan Collectors Club was founded in Manila on May 24, 1979. About a year later on October 27, 1980, it was fully accredited by the Central Bank of the Philippines now Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ( BSP ) as an organization with interest in the knowledge and appreciation of Philippine numismatics. Then another year later on October 16, 1981, it was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-stock non-profit corporation. The Club’s principal aim is to promote the collecting hobby, especially among the young, as an effective vehicle in inculcating the love of the arts and the appreciation of the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

In fact , facsimiles of some of its members’ collections are permanently exhibited at the National Historical Institute’s Museum of Philippine Political History in Luneta, Manila since its opening on December 30, 2002. Noteworthy to mention too are the various coffee-table books that carry the collections of BCCI members in their illustrations, which were published especially during the centennial year.
Christmas parties in December of every year are particularly looked forward to by its members and guests. Valuable gifts donated by the Club and its officers are given away in a raffle conducted for this special occasion.
