Highlights of the 67th Philippine Orchid Society Annual Orchid and Garden Show part 2

Hardin ng mga Bulaklak ( Flower Garden ) Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City – Philippines

Before presenting the set of winners , I must commend University of the Philippines -College of Architecture  for allowing their students to participate in an actual landscaping exhibit.

University of the Philippines – Diliman  landscape architecture students

Although they may not be the best nor the most colorful , I think exposing the students in this kind of exhibition will allow them chance to see and work on an actual landscaping project.  Some of them take time finishing the project laboring  from late afternoon of February 27  to early morning of February 28 . According to some of them , they do not have the money to purchase plants and accessories and most of them would borrow from other members  . I inquisitively gave them some tips on  landscaping and even how an orchid show is being held.

Here are the list of the major winners of the 67th annual orchid and garden show.

Postcrossing Philippines eyeball in Rizal Park

Rizal Park , Ermita, Manila-Philippines

It was a hot and sunny weather , when small number of postcard collectors met at the historic Rizal Park or Luneta. The event was organized by Ms. Willa Stock – an active blogger, postcard , stamp and letter collector.

In fact , the event was just posted at the Postcrossing Philippines facebook event page last  January 25.  Due to our hectic schedules- (There are many events which overlapped ) few managed to come. I had to skip a heritage talk /art sketch walk in Quiapo ( Bahay Nakpil -Bautista ) earlier .  We were later joined by  Ms. Abigail Kho – a new found convert to our hobby ( postcard and stamp collecting ) .

group picture taken in front of the statute of Dr. Jose Rizal

I managed to skip work in the afternoon ( I had a work on saturday ) just to meet fellow collectors.  Luneta is very accessible to all of us.  We started the afternoon walk  and finding a suitable place ( near the chess area) where Ms. Willa Stock started the short swap meet and on-the spot raffle.
