Charlie Wanton Noodle House – a noodles house for everyone !

265 Haig Street, Daang Bakal , 1550  Mandaluyong City -Philippines

 Charlie Wanton Special restaurant

I always pass-by this home-style noodle restaurant whenever i visit my relatives in San Juan and Mandaluyong City. However this is my first -time to blog about this place. ( Thanks to the Uy family  who brought us there for  lunch !)

According to the employee, the first restaurant was located at Florentino Torres  street in Santa Cruz, Manila on 1958.  There are many factors ‘why’ this noodle house moved from the old location ( Manila ) . The blending of Filipino and Chinese cuisine is very evident with their long list of favorite menus .

Much of the downtown Manila experience  is still retained.   It is unpretentiously a house turned into a restaurant. It has no frills and looks probably as it did decades ago. .  The proprietor is Mr. John Fernandez which is a always there at the restaurant.  Older generation  remembers that this noodle house is almost at par with Ma Mon Luk or Manosa .

The current noodle restaurant  in Mandaluyong opened in 1996.

Feature :  television, magazines, newspapers and blogs had already featured this noodle house.  The noodle house had maintained their quaint appearance and can sit up to 70 people at any given time  . The noodle house  had a small function area which can accommodate between 10 to 12 . There is a private room which is separated  from the main dining area.

Miss World 2013 finals move from Jakarta to Bali

 rally

JAKARTA, Indonesia  — More than 1,000 Islamic hardliners demonstrated against the Miss World beauty contest in host country Indonesia Thursday, denouncing it as “smut and pornography,” as protests grow ahead of the show’s weekend opening.
Opposition to the pageant in the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation has intensified in the past week, with demonstrators and some officials calling for the event to be scrapped.

Organizers have already dropped the contest’s famous bikini round but the move has failed to appease hardliners and protests have been growing, with Thursday’s the biggest yet. Nine (9) candidates were selected to speak in front of the media, and our  Miss World-Philippines representative Megan Young was happily one of them. She was obviously liked by the Press as she showed her articulate side even more.

Coordinating People’s Welfare Minister Agung Laksono announced that now all of the pageant events, from the opening ceremony to the coronation night, would be held in Bali.

However, contestants, he continued, would be allowed to visit other provinces, but not as part of the program series.

“We take this decision after considering the pros and cons of the event for both the public and the organizer,” Agung said on Saturday.

In the initial schedule, after the first week of events came to an end in Bali, all 129 contestants from around the globe would then travel to Jakarta, where they would compete in different events culminating with the final on Sept. 28  at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC).
