The author saw an on-line advertisement inviting bloggers and media to join the FREE seminar about financial market and staying fiscally sound. I quickly singed-up for the event .

I arrived at the Ortigas Library shortly at around 7:45 am. I thought that the seminar will be at around 8:00am . I was later notified by the security guard on duty that the seminar schedule was at 9:00am . Never-least , avoided the early morning rush hour and squeezing with a lot of people at the MRT station.
I was greeted by Mr. Shyan Lim who arrived shortly after 8:30 am . He is very warm and friendly person. He is from Singapore and now living in the Philippines for almost 5 years. He used to work for a multinational financial company but decided to have his own business and trains people for financial literacy .

Our group swell from less than half a dozen to more than 30 people by 9:00am . There were all sorts of people, from students, to yuppies, professionals , retirees, bloggers and some financial experts . We were told by the SECRETARIAT to register at the counter.

Mr. Amar Chandnani presented data that showed that 43. 8% of the Filipinos spend more than they earned, 51. 5% spend all their income, 4.6% spend less than their income.
It was an eye opener for almost all of the participants of the seminar.

Then a short game was ” WIN as Much as You Can ” was played by the participants forming group A ( X) and group B ( O) . Everyone assumed it was the popular game of TIC TAK TOE because of how it appeared to look like, we failed big time! We never really understood the instructions given and just relied on our stock knowledge. Nobody got the total of 8 points. They are funny and hilarious too .
then a short mid-morning break which consists of club house sandwiches , coffee was served to all the attendees. The company (Top Meat ) is Rated âAAAâ by the National Meat Inspection Service of the Department of Agriculture. It is the Highest International Standard given by the department, to companies that strictly comply with their hygiene and product quality requirements.

After the brief mid-morning snacks, there was a short ice breaker where some items from the sponsors and donors were raffled-off to the lucky attendees.

Then , Mr. Shyan Lim recounted some people tend to spend personal money on a famous coffee chain instead of saving the money in other financial instruments like banks, insurance, stock, mutal funds and even real estate properties.
