The Asian Development Bank (ADB) expected tthe growth to quicken in the coming 2016. ADB projected a 6.3% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2016.They also lowered their forecast on inflation rate from 3.3% to 3% .

These key economic indicators augur well for OFWs who wanted to return andstay for good in the Philippines, and start their own business.Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported that cash remittances from overseasFilipinos amounted to $12.08 billion in the first six months of the year, $637million higher compared to $11.45 billion in the same period last year.The increased cash remittance of the OFWs show the potential of the sector tofurther contribute to the economy’s growth by investing their money to businesss.Several OFW entrepreneur success stories have been reported anddocumented, indicating that the sector has the capacity to jump toentrepreneurship, given the proper guidance and education they can enlargetheir economic role in the country’s further development.

There are 12 Million OFWs working all over the world, these numbers can addThe OFW SME Christmas Expo aims to be one of the platforms to helping theOFWs and SMEs to further grow their business capacity.

The event is set this December 15-16, 2015 at Megatrade, SM Megamall.This two-day expo will highlight the following special events: 7 th Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Recognition Award (OBRA), Business Meet-up, Association General Meeting.The 7th Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Recognition Award (OBRA) is are cognition given to OFWs and Balikbayans that showed exemplary behavior in the following categories: Entrepreneurship, Community Building, Family Building, Good Deeds, Positive Character, Work Ethics and Blogging.The committee award two winners per category.

The Business Meet-up is an organized and speed-dating form of business networking allowing exhibitors and invited business decision makers to network and exchange business opportunities. Association General Meeting is an event for different associations to conduct their meetings inside the event and Christmas Party in order to exposed their members to different exhibitors offering business opportunities in the event.

Saint Stephen High School Stamp Awareness Exhibition

Mr. Reynaldo Ong de Jesus ( class 1971 alumnus) address the students about the importance of stamp and letter writing. 

Philippine Philatelic Federation in partnership with Saint Stephen High School and with special participation of the Philippine Postal Corporation conducted a Stamp Awareness Exhibition from November 10 to 13, 2015 at the main lobby area of the elementary school.

Philatelic awareness

The school boast of winning 3 stamp design contests organized by the Philippine Postal Corporation, Department of Environment and Natural Resources ( DENR) and United Nations (UN) from 2010 to 2013.

The students did not just brought their school so much recognition , but they also brought recognition to the country in the eyes of the international community .

The stamp exhibit main aim is to bring awareness about stamp collecting , letter writing ( particularly hand penmanship writing ) , postcard collecting to the students.

Note: Saint Stephen High School will be celebrating their 100th founding anniversary in 2017 and there are plans to have a commemorative stamp issuance. People who collects stamps, memorabilia  and  Saint Stephen High School alumni cannot wait for their issuance.
