It was a bit overcast with some dizzle around past 3:00pm at the show site. Everybody is quite on celebratory mood as the Philippine Horticultural Society marks their 40th anniversary or RUBY anniversary .

Special guests of honor includes Engineer Zaldy dela Rosa– Quezon City Memorial Circle management , Vice-Mayor Maria Josefina ” Joy” Belmonte -Alimurong , Quezon City tourism office , Mr. Joselito ” Butch ” Campos Jr. of Del Monte Philippines, Ambassador Preciosa Soliven , Congressman Mark Villar ,Dra. Elenita Binay among others.

 

The mood was festive and formal with members wearing Filipiniana outfit that best describe the region or place that they lived.

Across the commercial booth, EDSA Garden House gave free ashitaba sorbet to the visitors .

This is a 12-day event which members and the public can participate . There will be daily lectures and seminars, trade fair, street dancing parade from different public schools in Quezon City, on-the spot painting contest , freestyle flower arrangement , pet show, floats , plant competition and plant bazaar.

Hon. Mark A. Villar ( committee on trade and industry ) represented his mother Senator Cynthia Villar at the event. He said that the horticulture industry is creating a lot of job opportunities .

Late afternoon snacks were provided by Ms. Baby de Leon -resident caterer

The event also have live band with Ms. Gail Blanco ( Pinoy Idol ) and Mark Laygo .

Fireworks display were provided by Binondo Fireworks Firecracker Lovers Organization .
