Hardin ng mga Bulaklak ( HB -Flower Garden ) , Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City-Philippines
Philippine Orchid Society in partnership with Quezon City government , Quezon City Memorial Circle, Del Monte-Philippines, Villar Foundation , Goodwill Bookstore and members of different plant societies and garden clubs mounted a successful opening at the Hardin ng Bulaklak ( HB or Flower Garden) within Quezon Memorial Circle.
This year’s theme “ Building Bridges Through Orchids” enabling orchid growers to bridge orchid growing with other industries.

Among the prominent guests of honor includes Congresswoman Emmeline Aglipay-Villar , Sensei Ryugetsu Nakagawa , Mr. Tatsuo Kitagawa of Japan International Cooperation Agency , Quezon City government and Taiwan Bonsai Society members.

The event started with Quezon City Symphonic band played the national anthem and festive tunes. while ribbon cutting ceremonies started past 4:00PM which the guests of honor also toured the exhibition area and awarding ceremonies were also announced during the opening.

The afternoon fanfare and opening ended with a fellowship cocktails. From August 26 to 29, there will be a photo contest where 3 amateurs and 3 professional photographers can compete at take photos of the orchids, ornamental plants or exhibits at the show. The winners will be awarded at the ceremony during the Manila Intentional Book Fair 2016 .
Orchid Landscape Winners
Third Prize : Mrs. Corazon Purificacion and Mrs. Anna Ruth Purificacion -Conde
The orchid landscape exhibit of mother and daughter tandem had different orchid hybrids and species from the country . The best Euanthe sanderiana or Waling-waling of the show was owned by the Purificacion Orchids. There are also interesting sculpture using stones and wires which looked-like ants and spiders .
Second Prize: Ms. Evangeline Go
Sensei Ryugetsu Nakagawa, Ms. Evangeline Go and Congresswoman Emmeline Aglipay-Villar. Her orchid landscape exhibit had Waling-Walings ( Euanthe sanderiana) pink and ordinary forms, Dendrobium , Phalaenopsis , Kagawaras, Mokara hybrids

The exhibit booth of husband and wife tandem showcased the different Phalaenopsis , Cattleyas, Dendrobiums , strap-leaf Vanda hybrids , ornamental plants,ferns,episcias, begonia and Kiyapo ( Quiapo ) or water lettuce.

The show will be until September 5 with daily lectures starts at past 2:00pm . Entrance fees for students and senior citizens with valid ID’s is at Php 20.00 and Php 30.00 for general admission.
