The 2nd Makati Food and Heritage Festival is hosted by the city of Makati through Museum and Cultural Affairs (MCAO), Greenbelt Management , Ayala Center, Filipino Heritage Festival , Embassy of Germany, Embassy of Indonesia, Royal Thai Embassy, Consulate of Portugal, Alba Restaurante Español, Brankinho, Italfood, Kaya Korean Restaurant, MGourmet Deliteca, German Club, Chua’s, Bailon’s, Casa Armas and Citrus Zone. among others .

Other participants also incldes Masflex, Solane, La Germania, Ajinomoto and Fresh Options Meatshop.
Mayor Abigail Binay said the three-day food festival will be open on the said dates from 11:00am to 2:00pm, and then reopen from 4:30pm to 9:00pm. She said cooking demonstrations led by renowned chefs will also be held at the venue, along with free food tasting.
At 3pm, 10 admired celebrity chefs will be featured in “Fiesta de Paellas”, a tribute to Don Alba who introduced Paella to the country and endeared himself to the community by sharing his culinary expertise.
There were over 2 dozens booths selling different local , regional cuisines.
Celebrity chefs who will be featured include Chefs BJ Bidar, Day Salonga, Mon Urbano, Dedet dela Fuente, Erling Rune, Him Uy de Baron, Isaiah Ortega, Jaja Andal, Menoy Gimenez, Miguel de Alba and Timothy Decker Gokioco.
Among the cuisines that will be served during the three-day food festival are Nuernberger with sanerkrant in a bun and Frikadellen with potato salad of German Club (German); Chickpea salad with octopus and codfish, Pasteis de Nata and Pasteis de Queijo of Belinyas Pasteis de Nata (Portugal); Paella, Lengua with rice and Callos with rice of Alba (Spain).
Dak Bulgogi, Kalbi Jim, Bulgogi and Dweaji Bulgogi of Kaya Korean Restaurant Rice Toppings (Korea); Montaditos (Butifarra, Butifarra Choricera, Pork Belly, Chicken Brochette and Bacalao a la Vizcaina) of MGourmet Deliteca (Spain); Pad Thai of Royal Thai Embassy; and Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng and Soto Betawi of Indonesian Embassy.
There will also be performances like Pendet Dance, a traditional Indonesian dance that will be performed by Ms. Viga Putri Harmulasari from the Indonesian Embassy, and Flamenco Dance which will be performed by staff from Alba Restaurante Español.
Chef Nancy Reyes Lumen
There will be an “Adobo Cooking Contest” at Makati City Hall Quadrangle to be conducted by the “Adobo Queen of the Philippines”, Chef Nancy Reyes Lumen.
It is an Inter-barangay Adobo Cooking Contest in cooperation with the Makati Education & Cultural Kagawads Association (MECKA) headed by Chairman of Barangay Pinagkaisahan Fernando Bolo, and Liga ng mga Barangay headed by Councilor Armand Padilla. Eighteen barangays of Makati will participate in the contest, including Forbes Park, Magallanes, Bangkal, San Isidro, Pio del Pilar, Sta. Cruz, Poblacion, Tejeros, and Carmona.
Other participants include Pinagkaisahan, Pitogo, Guadalupe Nuevo, Pembo, Rizal, East Rembo, Cembo, Guadalupe Viejo, and West Rembo.
Prizes for the contest are as follows: First Prize-P30,000; Second Prize-P20,000; and Third Prize-P10,000. Chefs Erling Rune, Z Leila Kusinera and Chris Urbano will serve as the judges for the said cooking contest. Give-aways will also be given to early birds, courtesy of sponsors. It will be hosted by Rendon Araneta.
Australian Chef Chris Urbano will be demonstrating his version of Australian adobo during the tabulation of scores of the participants.
At 5pm on the same day, there will be a cooking demonstration of a Spanish cuisine at Greenbelt 3 Park to be led by Chef Juan Manuel Montel.
Unlike other food festivals, It is open to the public and a visit at the event will surely satisfy everyone’s culinary appetite .
