The Philippines is one of the top 10 producers of ” GOLD” in the world. The country had an abundant supply although not as big as South Africa , Australia or United States . Gold is very important item for centuries and the usage in the country even pre-dates thousands of years.
Treasure troves of gold items were discovered in many places from death masked in Cebu , gold items in Pila, Laguna to Golden Tara of Butuan and the famed Surigao treasures .
Some of these gold items were exhibited abroad and some local museums like Ayala and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas boast of such treasure items. Asia Society also featured some of the items on display .
Since we could not buy or acquire these items , the best way to have these are stamps issued by Philippine Postal Corporation . Sending them to stamp collectors from all over the world.
The stamps is a good way to promote these national treasure , The stamp was supposed to be issued last December 21, 2016 but somehow it was only this January 3 that PHLPOST had updated their site. The stamp issuance is called “Ancestral Gold ” with the items featured are all from the Ayala Museum collection .
