Food Racing at Pit Stop Food Park

Food Racing and enjoyable family meal at Pit Stop Food Park . One will surely love going around and enjoy the race track inspired food park. The food park had their soft opening about year or so and is slowly becoming a food haven for residents of Quezon City, Fairview , Marikina and adjacent places.

There are over 2 dozen food stalls offering different menus not only locally but those found in other parts of the world.

The area can accommodate between 280 to 300 people at any given time and there is also an ample parking space beside the food park.

There are also live bands and performances during weekends. Some of the food stalls are already open by 4:00 pm.

Tokyo Tempura stall

Tokyo Tempura stall offers interesting eat all you can shrimp tempura promo for just Php 199.00 with additional rice value meal to avail of the promo. The stall also offer fried chili tempura for those who wanted to try a more spicy flavored tempura.

Brandon’s Steak Hub

The exterior of the stall is rustic and one is not intimidated to ask for the menu or their signature dishes. They are posted visibly handwritten in the blackboard .

Brandon’s Steak Hub started their operation about a year or so with common friends who likes Italian and American dishes.  Almost all of the proprietors are from Quezon City area, hence they choose the food park for their initial endeavor.

Rib’s Eye Steak cost Php 289 , There are three kinds of sauces Php 10.00 per additional order ( wild mushroom sauce, brandon’s signature sauce and black pepper sauce ) .

For just additional Php 55.00, one can add Maki Cheese Balls , Potato skin for side dishes.

We bought the in-house ice tea blend which cost Php 70 small jar and Php 140 for large jar.

Ideal between 3 to 4 people sharing. There are also soft drinks and beers that are available.

Andy Cola

Andy Cola is a combination of whiskey and cola drink which was popular in the local market way back in the 1980’s . This drink is making a big comeback in the local liquor market and luckily there was a sample taste .

Shisha Bar is ideal for those who wanted to try shisha which starts at Php 350 full load.

Another eye catchy name for a burger stall is Son’s of  Burger or SOB . This burger stall had their branch in Antipolo, Rizal province and this is their second stall . The specialty are burger meals, kickin wings, frinkin fries and potato cheese balls.

We also got a chance to talk with the proprietor and we saw how the burger patties are grilled upfront . The hamburger and quarter pounder is even better than some commercially available ones.

This stall offers Ramen dishes, Yakitori, Donburi , Maki roll, Takoyaki  in a traditional Japanese stall setting.

Cactus Fiesta Fair 2017

Cactus and Succulent Society of the Philippines in partnership with Quezon City government  and Quezon Memorial Circle administration will host a trade fair and exhibit called ” Cactus Fiesta Fair 2017” at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak or Flower Garden within Quezon Memorial Circle facing East Avenue side.

This will be held on May 5, 6, and 7, 2017 . Aside from lectures/ talks on various cacti and succulents topics, there will also be a trade fair and exhibit.

There are no entrance fees and the public is invited to join the fair. The fair opens from 8:00am until 6:00 pm .

Los Baños Horticultural Society Show 2017: There is Gold In Recycling

“There is Gold in Recycling” is the theme at the ongoing Los Baños Horticulture Show 2017 at the University of the Philippines -Los Baños ( UPLB) Senior Social Hall area.

This is the first of the two shows. The next garden show is slated later part of the year.

Aside from these beautiful landscapes, There are individual plant competition, trade fair of local products,plant bazaars and lectures from the garden experts.

One can also take a quick stroll on the University of the Philippines campus and admire the mature trees, flowering plants, old buildings and take a food trip.

Among the big winners are Mr. Vicente Chin Jr. Mr. Jose Salacup

One can also buy some regional products like buko pie , handicrafts and espasol at the commercial area.

A Visit to Santuario de San Ezekiel Moreno

Santuario de San Ezekiel Moreno  is a shrine dedicated to Saint Ezekiel Moreno  C-5 Extension Road, Pulanglupa, in honor of the Spanish Agustinian priest who served as parish priest of Las Piñas from 1876 to 1879.

This was part of the extensive ” Semana Santa” -Visita Iglesia tour of churches in Pasay , Las Piñas and Parañaque cities.  From Las Piñas Bamboo Organ Church, One can walk or ride 1 jeep going to the site.

One would climb the stairs going to the main door which had an elaborate wood carvings .

Architecture 

The modern stylized Spanish Baroque-inspired Santuario de San Ezekiel Moreno is designed by architect Claude Edwin Andrews. There are columbarium units located at the ground floor of the church are managed by Golden Haven Memorial Park. A Villar group of company.

The columbarium units are still on the process of finishing and the landscaping of the surrounding area is still ongoing. While the memorial park is located nearby.

The church was finished sometime early 2014 and had been one of the most popular churches visited within Las Piñas. There is a small museum dedicated the life and works of the saint. Unfortunately, the museum was closed during our visit .

The church was finished after more than 3 years, when the initial plans started around late 2010. The sitting capacity of the church is between 720 to 750 people.

Architect Joey Amistoso did the church’s interiors, including an intricate retablo (altar tableau) featuring niches with images of Saint Joseph and Saint Ezekiel.

It is said that the cost of the church construction was estimated to be between Php 200 million to Php 225 million. There are no concrete columns which would obstruct the view of the public from the main altar of the church.

Since the church architecture is well designed, natural light and air circulation inside  easily flow . There is no need to open the artificial lightning especially during long days.
