The stage display, which was conceptualized and executed by the showcase committee led by Mrs Soc Monfort, highlighted the waling waling in an tropical indoor garden display of specimen-sized foliage plants. President John Clifton Martyr welcomed all the guests and participants and he expounded on the Timeless Beauty of the Waling-waling, it’s uniqueness among orchids and it’s important role to orchid horticulture. After which, delicious Filipino delicacies were served by QUAN and washed down with their specialty guyabano and bignay shake.
This year’s theme is “Timeless Beauty: The Allure of the Waling” at Robinson’s Place, Bacolod City from August 28 to September 5, 2017.
Waling-waling or Vanda sanderiana is the highlight of the show.
This year, a waling waling plant competition was held and first place went to Ms Gloria Gensoli’s entry of a deeply-colored Vanda sanderiana having 4 mature growths, 2 of which have 2 inflorescence each. Another event participated by the members was a month group flower arrangement competition. And after the leaves have settled, June Group’s entry emerged the best among the bunch.
There are plant stalls which sells orchids and ornamental plants. If you hurry up and visit, you can view the winners, acquire unique and beautiful plants and even participate in an ongoing photo contest by voting for your favorite waling-waling photo.
