Winners at the Cactus, Succulent and Bromeliad Show at SM MOA

Big Winners of cactus, succulent and bromeliad show were announced few days after the grand festival. The event was organized by Philippine Nurserymen Association and BG event management in partnership with SM Mall of Asia and SM Supermalls with media partner Manila Bulletin and Agriculture magazine.

There were more than 50 stalls selling different kinds of cacti, succulents, orchids, plastic pots, fertilizers, ornamental plants, bromeliads among others.

Cactus, Succulent and Bromeliad festival was successful that at least 50,000 went there during the event.

10 Exciting Booths at the 18th Mango Festival

18th National Mango Festival was held from May 31 to June 2 at Eaton Centris Walk in Eton Centris, Quezon City.

After we went to SidcorEton Centris Sunday Market, We decided to visit the festival. There were several talks, demonstrations and lecture held at  festival where participants can enrich their knowledge on basic mango cultivation techniques,  pest, diseases, fertilization and how to preserve excess production.

10. ) Wilson’s Tree Bank – offers several tree seedlings of mulberry trees, edible figs and few other tree seedlings.

9.) Bicol Mangoes by Yulaik Farm . They also have some fruit wines made from lipote, mangoes. They also process mango sauce, baligang concentrate, dried lipote.

8.) Santa Maria Dairy Farm– Santa Maria dairy farm offers milk, kesong puti, milk gel, milkobar, ice cream and pastillas which is sold for Php 50 per pack.

7.) Philippine Mango Seedling Farm– They have their farm in Candaba , Pampanga province.

5.) Carlies Handicraft– Ms. Carlita Frades offer handwoven bayong made by the members . They are based in Commonwealth, Quezon City.

4.) Green Thumb Zambales Dried Mangoes– Aside from fresh mangoes from Zambales, they also have dried mangoes.

3.) Spirulina by Aztec Food Growers Corporation- Their farm is based in Cainta, Rizal province. The ponds are secured and fully enclosed by screen mesh walls and transparent roofing.

2.) Villar Sipag Booth– The booth showcases the advocacy program of the foundation like organic composting, urban farming, coco choir making, water hyacinth weaving among others.

They also gave away free organic compost sack for interested group and visitor at the festival.

1.) Guimaras Mangoes– They were sold initially for Php 150 per kilo during the first two days of the festival, But were sold for just Php 120 by the end of the event.

Los Baños Horticultural Society Annual Show 2019

Los Baños Horticultural Society in cooperation with University of the Philippines (Los Baños), Department of Tourism region IV-A and Department of Trade and Industry region IV-A will be having their annual show from April 5 to 14 , 2019.

There will be several landscape exhibits, individual plant competition, trade fairs and product display at the Senior Social Hall gardens within the university. A minimal entrance fees of Php 25 for the general public and Php 20 for students, senior citizens and pwd’s with valid Id’s. Exhibit and commercial booth opens from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

 

 

Bougainvillea Extravaganza at Flora Filipina 2019

Bougainvilleas are flowering plants is a genus of thorny ornamental vines, bushes. The country is fortunate that we have a lot of old cultivar varieties and the flowering shrub was introduced during the Spanish colonial era.

There are several plant stalls which specializes on this flowering plants. Some of the sellers are from Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Rizal provinces.

Several varieties and cultivars had been bred for the past several decades not only in the country but as well as other ASEAN countries ( particularly Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia).

We went to this booth and the seller told us that they are lucky to have brisk sales. Their three bougainvillea ( bonsai ) were reserved by an unidentified buyer. The  buyer already made a down payment few minutes before we came.

The flowering  bougainvillea had a handsome price tag. This also have an interesting shape.

The flowering shrub is quite popular in several latin American countries, Florida and parts of tropical Asia. I have invited three other blogger friends, but they did not stayed long at the site.

There were about a dozen of so commercial and exhibit- The nice news is that the public will not shell out Php 50 and Php 30 entrance fees. Since this is a commercial trade fair and exhibit. Where almost anything on exhibit are for sale.

Our group was approached by a seller and told us that even the potted plants and accents are for sale.

Due to the public clamor, Philippine Plant Festival 2019 is extended until February 10, 2019.

Do not forget to visit the bazaar and exhibit area, The show site is at Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City.
