RetroCon 2019 had a successful  three day event from August 2 to 4, 2019 which held a trade show, bazaar, eyeball, comic autograph signing, live entertainment and on the spost raffle at the iconic Lucky Chinatown Mall along Reina Regente street and De La Reina street, Binondo, Manila.

There were several booth selling toys, postcards, stamps, coins, soft drink bottles, poster, photograph, figurines, game console, stickers, comics, funko toys among others at the RetroCon 2019.

5.) Modern Vintage Collectibles– This is the booth which specializes on modern, vintage toys and other stuff which are collectible.

4.) Pixel Hero PH– This booth specializes on pixel art, button pins and stickers with hundreds of different designs to choose from.

3.) Dekada Collectibles and Antiques– This booth had a lot of items for sale. I have bought several old postcards.

1.) Pol Medina Jr. and Comic book artists booth- One of the best time to meet these people who illustrate creative works of art.

RetroCon 2019 will be having a much bigger event slated next month at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

Retrocon 2019 is a gathering for all collectors, fans, enthusiasts and admirers of vintage items, collectibles, memorabilia and anything of value which remind them of not so distant past.

There will be a lot of side events like meet and greet, stalls, talks, games at the three-day event which will happen on August 2,3 ,4 at Lucky China Mall in Binondo, Manila.

This will be the 4th time that the Retro Con will be held, the first two edition was held at the iconic Ali Mall in Cubao, while the last one was held in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

Retro Con 2019 is one of its kind and is aiming to bring in collectors and vintage collectibles in one venue for the appreciation of the public.

Unlike other trade fairs, the convention is FREE and open from 10:00 am till 8:00 pm. Hope to see you all !!!!

Schedule of Events at Cavite Food and Culinary Expo 2019

Cavite Travel and Tours Expo [CTTE] had a successful venture before with Isla Events when they had collaborated for the very first time so the team behind it decided to do it again this year. Isla Events is now inviting everyone to Cavite Food and Culinary Expo 2019 happening from July 26 to 28, 2019 in Imus, Cavite province.

With the goal of promoting Cavite as a must-visit province, it also boasts of the region’s rich culinary and food heritage. The said event also targets to extend growth amongst micro-entrepreneurs especially those in the food business.

The event will serve as a venue where they can reach out to their target market as well as avail of various skills on upgrading their techniques, trainings, build more networks with other businesses and get to know various programs which offer financial institutions as well as concerned government,” added Agrazada.

The food exposition is highly endorsed by the province of Cavite, Department of Tourism, SM Super Malls, Imus government, schools, Food Panda, Herold Travel and Tours.

 Cavite’s heirloom and culinary specialties such as Imus Longganisa, Cavite’s version of Adobo sa Dilaw, Halayang Sampalok, Suman ng Kawit, Cavite’s Tamales, Café Amadeo among many others.

Food enthusiasts as well as culinary fans in mind as its target audience, There will be an array of food choices as well as a pool of culinary experts who will be sharing their expertise under one roof.

July 26, Friday, 10:30AM Chef Christopher Guado Caraingan of Razorchefs Philippines will talk about coffee on his lecture dubbed as “How Kapeng Amadeo Saved Our Coffee Industry.”

There will also be a Basic Entrepreneurship/How to Put Up a Business lecture by Katrina Paula M. Caballe, Development Management Officer III PCLEDO Entrep Division, it will be held from 1-2PM.

Also scheduled on Friday, July 26, from 2-5PM, There will be Dimsum Making, Pastries and Delicacies Making to be conducted by Corazon A. Tepora and Fruit and Meat Processing lectures by Elvira B. Perlado.

July 27, Saturday, 11AM Chef Lea Tagle Monzon of Razorchefs Philippines and United Hotelliers of the Philippines will give a cooking demo of Halayang Sampalok.

Also on Saturday, July 27, at 3PM, Ige Ramos, an award-winning graphic designer and food historian will talk about “Looking at the Past to Forge a Delicious Future.” Book signing shall also follow for his Republic of Taste book.

On July 28, Sunday at 11AM-12NN, Chef Orvin Sayos of Lime and Basil Restaurant [Alfonso, Cavite] will be preparing Asian dishes from local source.

Also slated on July 28, Sunday at 3PM Chef Gene Gutierrez of Big Ben’s Gourmet Imus Longganisa creates exciting dishes from the famed Imus Longganisa.

Aside from these amazing talks and food demos, there will also be a talk on Entrepreneurial Activities in Travel and Hospitality, and Guest Relations Management by Deogracias Esplanada, MTSM, Retired Professor, DSLU-Dasmariñas, College of International Hospitality Management. The lecture will be held from 9:30AM to 5PM.

All the lectures, seminars and demos will be held at the Isla Events Center, Tamsui Avenue, Bayan Luma II, Imus, Cavite.

20 Toy and Memorabilia Hauls at the Toy Convention 2019

A visit to the recent Toy Convention 2019, One cannot resists buying die-cast toy cars, stickers, toy figurine, posters, pins, manga, comics and other items which are collectibles.  Some of these items remind us of our childhood days.

20.) Disney and Funko Pop figurines– One of the most popular creators and innovators of licensed pop culture products. Among the items includes Jollibee, Darna and Spider man.

19.) K pop, Jpop and Chinese artists– Several merchandise bearing popular Korean pop, Japanese pop and Chinese pop artists can be bought at the event.

18.) Go Bots– These are popular cars initially manufactured by Tonka which can transform into robots. The incomplete set of about 50 sets sells for only Php 40,000!

17.) Kewpie dollsis a brand of dolls and figurines that were conceived as comic strip characters by cartoonist Rose O’Neill. At the recent Retrocon 2019, these toys were popular items sold.

16.) Hot Wheel die cast toys– One of the most popular toys for sale at the convention. Some mint condition sells an average of between Php 120 to Php 250.

15.) Cartoon Power Bank – Solid Business  takes  prides itself as the leading provider of office and banking equipment in the Philippines. The company is located at 303, 3rd floor Singson building, Plaza Moraga at the foot of Jones bridge in Manila.

14.) Tin Plates Creative metal tin design having different themes. Most of the desired collectibles came from licensed products.

13.) Posters– One of the most popular items sold at the convention. Collectors would categorized this into different categories, one of the most popular ones are movie posters.

12.) PEZ Toys– The name PEZ is an abbreviation of PfeffErminZ (German for peppermint). It is the brand name of an Austrian candy  which was first manufactured in 1927 and associated manual candy dispensers.Toy character head dispensers were introduced in 1955, after the candy was introduced in the United States.

Colorful cartoon characters, anime characters. There is a local collecting community which specializes in these items.

11.) Mickey and Minnie Mouse – Popular Disney character toys in which several merchandise items are made. One of the most popular are stuffed toys.

10.) Coca-Cola die-cast toys– The soft drink brand is popular worldwide and some of the popular items made are die-cast toys, trucks, polar bear and commemorative bottles. There are several local collecting clubs which specialize this kind of theme.

9.) Bruder Trucks–  The are available in reputable department stores, toy shops and everywhere where toys can be bought. This includes agriculture machinery, emergency, commercial ones.

8.) Captain Barbell, Darna and Lastikman– Mars Ravelo’s booth- creator of these iconic Filipino fictional heroes had several items from t-shirt, pins, mugs, ID holder and tumbler for sale.

7.) Ballpen– This is one of the most affordable items at the toy convention.

6.) Viewmaster– This is the trademark name of a line of special-format stereoscopes . This was first introduced in the 1939 but the popularity of these became apparent in the 1960’s to the mid-1990’s.

5.) Comics– Local and international comic were popular items for sale and MUST buy at the convention. There were several comic book authors and illustrators that are present during the event.

4.) Pepsi can and products – Pepsi is an international beverage company. The company seldom manufacture collectible items even during the height of its popularity. Some collectors would hunt for these trademarks.

3.) Stickers– This come in many different kinds from collectible Voltes V stickers, anime , cartoon and self made ones. Buying stickers at the convention is very popular and affordable.

2.) Pins– Another very popular collectible items.

1.) Jollibee and other popular figurines- One of the most popular sold items. There are several FB group which specializes in these thematic toy collection.

Toy Convention 2019 fans and visitors will be delighted that the biggest toy convention in the country is back. The event will be from June 28 to 30, 2019.  The event will be held at the iconic SMX Comvention Center, Pasay, Metro Manila.
