Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Winners Proclaimed

Miss Universe- Philippines 2020 winners and runner-ups were proclaimed few hours ago at a pre-taped telecast.

This was after more than 10 months of preliminary competition, enhanced community quarantine lock down, some candidate had dropped out due to covid 2019 and personal reasons.

Ms. Rabiya Mateo  of Iloilo City was named Miss Universe Philippines 2020 during the pageant’s pre-taped coronation ceremonies at the Baguio Country Club’s Cordillera Convention Hall over the weekend.

The almost three hour pageant was also shown in different parts of the world via youtube and television broadcast.

Ms. Ysabella Ysmael from Parañaque City bagged first runner-up honors while Ms. Michele Gumabao from Quezon City was named second runner-up.

Ms. Pauline Amelinckx from Bohol was named third runner-up while Ms.Kimberly Hakenson of Cavite was fourth runner up.   

The 22-year-old Mateo, who bested 45 other candidates, will represent the country in the 69th Miss Universe pageant, the venue and date is still to be announce.

Driver from Tagbilaran, Bohol Awarded at the 4th Pinoy Tsuper Hero

Mr. Augusto “Gus” Pascual from Tagbilaran City, Bohol province received accumulated total of P145,000 prize money, P1,000,000 worth of car insurance, brand new vehicle, Php 50,000 worth of lubes and fuel products from Phoenix petroleum. He was chosen from over 12,000 driver nominees nationwide.

Mr. Pascual also got P100,000 for his project proposal of modernization of public utility vehicles( PUV) garage project in his area. He is also the chairman of the local transportation cooperative.

While Mr. Joseph Membrillo, a tricycle driver from Tacloban took home second place with P50,000 cash prize. Third Place, Mr. Eusebio Fabia received Php 30,000 also from Tacloban City, Leyte province.

This is the 4th time that the outstanding Filipino driver or “Pinoy Tsuper Hero” awards was held. This is in partnership with ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI), ABS-CBN regional, Phoenix Petroleum,Bayan Academy for Social Entrepreneurship and other government agencies.

All the ten finalists also got Php 10,000 cash prizes and Phoenix Petroleum shirt, cap and packages.

Mr. Judah Cohen is Mr. Philippines Tourism -International 2014 winner and will represent the country in Mr. Tourism International pageant in Panama. Part of his duties is to promote Philippine tourist spots like Bohol .

Visit Bohol 2015 Travel Fair happening from  January 9-11 at the Glorietta Activity Center, Ayala Avenue, Makati City.  It would be a great help for the Boholanos if tourists will make Bohol part of their itinerary.  An added come-on would be the special performances of the world-renowned Loboc Children’s Choir (January 9, Friday, 4-6pm • January 10, Saturday, 4-6pm • January 11, Sunday, 7-8pm).

Lego Philippines in cooperation with SM Mall of Asia , Department of Tourism staged the first ever Philippine map complete with scenic spots  fully made by Lego.

The event is well-received by the crowd and even legion of foreigners were amazed on the exhibit.  One of the foreigner said that the exhibit is very colorful.

Another eye catching exhibit was the attraction from  Bicol region , the region  is world re-known for their Mount Mayon and Cagsawa Church ruins,  also on display is the Pating – Bulik  popularly called Butanding  on display . Whale watching had become a favorite tourist attraction in the towns  of Pilar, Donsol in Sorsogon province.

Social Responsibility

  Aside from creating awareness about the beautiful tourist spots in our the country , The exhibit also allowed  visitors to make a concrete contribution to our country through the SM Foundation. In the “Brick House for Children” corner, guests are asked to donate P1,000 and in the donor’s name, a Lego house is displayed to symbolize the donation. The SM Foundation will be the lead agency to identify Department of Social Welfare and Development or DSWD’s centers for children who will benefit from this project. According from a reliable source,  the event had already collected more than one hundred thousand pesos !

The colorful lego exhibit is until August 27, 2011 and everyone is invited to come and see the many tourism spots , festivals , natural  ,  architectural and man made  wonders of our country. A friend who collects a lot of lego toys  invited the author to come to the opening of the event last August 12, 2011 but the author manage to went to the  venue   a few days later.
