Flores Para Los Muertos Mural Paintings at Manila North Cemetery

Flores Para Los Muertos (Flowers for the Dead) was a joint project between of Pino Art Museum, Davies Paints, Boysen and the Manila city government last October 6, 2019.

Caesalpinia pulcherrima is a flowering shrub introduced to the country during the Spanish colonial regime.

Locally called peacock flower, caballero, bulaklak ng paraiso or paradise flower.

Collective Art

There were at least 300 creative artists from Ilocos Sur, Tarlac, Bulacan and Rizal provinces volunteered to come together and paint this mural.

Mr. Ferdie Montemayor ( artist) spearheaded in organizing the volunteers, together with other artists from the Pinto Art Museum.

The team managed to paint the whole mural in just 10 hours which included 3rd district Congressman John Marvin ” Yul Servo” Nieto.

Managed to visit the wall few days after they painted the perimeter walls of the Manila North Cemetery.

 The project hoped to brighten the bare white wash walls of the cemetery which borders Manila and Quezon City.

According to a long time resident of the area, The local government should also improve on the street lighting along the stretch of the avenue.

The most popular flowers which the artists painted were orchids, hibiscus ( gumamela), tulips, anthuriums and bougainvilleas.

The public is also advise not to put graffiti or destroy the wall painting.

5.) Landscape -Architects , Landscapers, Garden Enthusiasts and Plant lovers will surely be amaze with the different  landscaping techniques and styles.

landscape architecture graduating students were also asked to transform their respective sections of the World Trade Center outdoor lawn into works of art as part of the DELAXX competition. The DELAXX competition was hosted in partnership with the Philippine Association of Landscape Architects. There is also an inter-ASEAN country ( landscape )  interpretive competition where Vietnam emerges the grand prize winner.

4.) Obra Maestra Competition – Outstanding representatives from eleven of the metro’s top design schools participated the annual competition. The Winner is chosen via the public voting and visitors stubs. Aside from bragging rights, the winner also won cash prizes.  This year’s theme is ASEAN

Interior Designers’ Gallery– The gallery which features the different works of the Philippine Institute of Interior Design members.  Guests can meet  and greet interior designers and learn more about what they can do for residential and commercial spaces. The featured artists and designers can also promote their creative styles .

1.) Cause Oriented Groups and their Advocacies- One notable group is the HCS-Y and the Escolta Commercial Association Incorporated ( ECAI)  participating in this event.

The group wanted to preserve the Queen of Manila street ( Escolta ) and the grandeur of the old buildings and they group conduct some guided tours around the commercial district for a minimal fees.

Note: The WorldBex 2015 show will end tomorrow March 15. There is no entrance fees, However -visitors must bring their business cards and pre-registration is a must , due to the extent and scale of the event, which tend to have a long queues at the registration area.
