Intramuros Administration in partnership with National Commision for Culture and Arts (NCCA) , Department of Tourism (DOT), Museo ni Jose Rizal ( Fort Santiago), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Authority (TIEZA) San Agustin Church and Museum, Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc., Kaisa Heritage Center, Barbara’s, The Manila Cathedral, Destileria Limtuaco Museum , Instituto Cervantes de Manila and Colegio de San Juan de Letran will be having the open house on October 27, 2019 SUNDAY from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sustainability Summit Marks Old Manila Eco Market’s Anniversary

Sustainability Summit was successfully held at the second floor Thomas Hall, Saint Thomas of Aquinas building within Colegio de San Juan de Letran marked the Old Manila’s Eco Market first year anniversary.

The Sustainability Summit organizers aims for a bigger venue place and more speakers in the future. The summit is in joint partnership with Intramuros administration, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Department of Tourism and Old Manila Eco Market.

Old Manila Eco Market had a bazaar every sunday at the Plaza Roma in front of Manila Cathderal Basilica.

Old Manila Eco Market in partnership with Intramuros Administration, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Department of Tourism will be having Sustainability Summit Manila will be held on Saturday, October 5th 2019 from 1pm to 6pm at St. Thomas Hall, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Intramuros, Manila. This event is FREE and open to the public but registration is required.

Manager of the Social Entrepreneurship Dept. of Virlanie Foundation, currently taking Masters in Community Development in UP Diliman. Under Virlanie, she founded Likhaya to empower the mothers in street situation and poor communities through entrepreneurship and employment while also forwarding environmental sustainability through upcycling.

She is also the founder and managing director of a sustainable travel and tours called Alpas Mundo. She believes that sustainability must be everyone’s lifestyle rich and poor, may it be in fashion, travel, food, or any aspect of people’s life.

There were 12 TEAMS competing in this year’s edition .  The winning team ( UST ) got  gift packs from Uratex , Solane, Fujidenzo, Chef’s Classic,Whirlpool , Technogas, Allegro Beverage Corporation,  Fly Ace Food Corporation .

The winners will also have a chance to be featured on some of the top magazines, blog sites, newspapers and television sites. Aside from the trophies, bragging rights , plaques and CASH Prize of Php 15,000 . The team got an overall score of 86%.

The winning teams will also have a chance to participate in several projects of the company.

The place is jam-packed with so many people from all walks of life . The criteria for judging is based on Product Output 30% , Leadership and Group Dynamics 20% , Presentation and Delivery 20% and results from the Jolly Boot Camp 30%.

The group got their inspiration from the Empanada de Kaliskis from Malolos City , Bulacan . This is an heirloom pastry which is flaky , deep fried , stuffed with meat.  It’s origin dates back in 1820 and the dish is still an all time favorite among people visiting the province. I have eaten this several times whenever i got a chance to visit Malolos.

The group ‘s had the ability to improvise and even innovate the dough adding Malunggay ( Moringa oleifera)  , Kesong Puti ( carabao white cheese ) , Bulacan longganisa ( Bulacan sausage) then using Jolly’s mix mushroom, garbanzos, water chestnuts and salted black beans .

Ms. Monique Siguenza ( UST student) and her vast knowledge of her hometown heirloom recipes  from Bulacan province  help them edge the competing teams.

The team got 85.28% which is a close shot in winning the grand title.

Based on the crowd support and cheers – TUP ( Team La Winima) got the loudest cheer among all competing schools.
