National Teacher’s Month Celebration with PHLPOST, urges student to write via online

Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) invites all students to join the “Dear Teacher” online letter writing contest to express their gratitude to their beloved teachers.

The project is in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Metrobank Foundation Inc., Philippine Postal Corporation‘s ” Salamat Po Letter Writing Advocacy Program” encourages students to recognize their teachers through the art of letter-writing in celebration of “National Teachers’ Month” which falls every September.

According to PHLPost, even during the pandemic period, they are doing this annual letter writing contest via online to effectively promote and appreciate the hardwork and sacrifices of our teachers in molding the students to become better persons in society.

Students shall compose a short, one-page handwritten letters expressing their gratitude to their beloved teachers.

Participants shall photograph their letters, post it on Facebook and tag Facebook page @salamatpoletterwriting or may email at: salamatpo.phlpost@gmail.com.

Winners with the best handwritten letters will be selected, to receive a special prize from PHLPost and partner agencies.

Philippine Postal Corporation Celebrates National Teacher’s Month

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Metrobank Foundation unveiled the 2018 National Teachers’ Month (NTM) special commemorative stamp and official logo design for this year’s teachers’ day celebration from September 05 – October 05, 2018.

PHLPost also launched the “Salamat Po Teacher” letter writing for young people to effectively promote the value of gratitude to teachers and the important role they play in the lives of the students and society.

Despite the existence of modern means of communications like mobile phones and the social network, PHLPost hopes to bring back the passion of letter writing in today’s generation through a nationwide campaign involving students, teachers and educators who shaped the country’s future.

“Through letters and stamps, we pay tribute to our beloved and hardworking teachers who play an important role in shaping the future of the students under their guidance and care”, Postmaster General Joel Otarra said.

The cartoon-style colored postage stamps were designed by PHLPost graphic artist Rodine Teodoro illustrating a teacher “patiently guiding and teaching her student for a better future”. PHLPost has printed 50,000 copies of the stamp to be sold at P12 each. The stamps are now available at the Postshop, Manila Central Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio.

PhlPost is inviting students to join the nationwide “Salamat Po Teacher” letter writing raffle promo and competition both local and international in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Universal Postal Union.  The letter writing mechanics will be forwarded to DepEd regional offices and can be seen in Facebook social media page:https://www.facebook.com/SalamatPoLetterWriting/.

Now on its 10th year, Republic Act 10743 and UNESCO have designated October 5 of every year as National Teachers Day (NTD) and World Teachers’ Day (WTD) to honor teachers and the central role they play in guiding children, youth and adults through the life-long learning process.

PHLPost target is to reach wider cluster of public and private schools in order to effectively promote and develop young student’s skills in composition. Schools are also encouraged to include letter writing activities in their events and programs.

PHILPost enters Memorandum of Agreement with DEPED and Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino to institutionalized Letter Writing in Schools

The Philippine Postal Corporation ( PHLPOST ) has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education  ( DEPED ) and the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino ( KWF) to institutionalize letter writing skills of students in elementary and secondary school nationwide .

The partnership was signed by Postmaster General Maria Josefina Dela Cruz , Brother Armin Luistro ( DEPED secretary) and Mr. Virgilio S. Almario ( Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino commissioner)

Under the Memorandum of Agreement ( MOA) DEPED will issue a memorandum and advisory on PHLPost projects such as the yearly Universal Postal Union ( UPU ), Letter Writing Competition, National Letter Writing Project , and the establishment of student stamp clubs in all levels .

DEPED will also work on the inclusion of letter writing and stamp collecting as part of the K-12 curriculum.

The Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino ( KWF) will intensify the promotion of the nationwide ” Letter Writing Project ” and initiate action to seek the approval from the Office of the President for the issuance of an Executive Order  declaring a ” National Letter Writing Day”  with the theme ” Salamat Po ” using the Filipino language.

PHLPost is also set to issue a special stamp featuring ” Salamat Po” ” Thank You , to intensify the promotion and instill the value of gratitude  and positivism among Filipino youth .

Philippine Postal Corporation with the partnership Department of Education ( DEPED ) , Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino , SM Supermalls and Manila Bulletin spearheaded the letter writing competition .

The competition will be on October 9, 2013 at SM Baguio, SM North EDSA, SM Baliuag , SM Pampanga, SM Naga, SM Consolacion, SM Iloilo and SM Davao.

17th Academic Book Fair

17th Philippine Academic Book Fair, the annual five-day event organized by the Academic Booksellers Association of the Philippines, from July 8 to 12 at the Megatrade Hall 1, Fifth Level, Mega B, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
