Opening Highlights of the 72nd Mid-Year Philippine Orchid Society’s Show

Philippine Orchid Society in partnership with Quezon City government, Quezon City memorial circle administration and with sponsors Del Monte, Philippines, Manila Bulletin and Villar Sipag Foundation opened the 72nd mid-year show with stunning landscape exhibits.

The ribbon cutting ceremonies was held at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak ( Flower Garden), past 4:30 pm with Quezon City Lancaster band.

Fortune Catering Services

Fortune Catering Services was the official caterer of the event. The meal that the catering had provided was already an early evening meal.

The early evening meal meal consists of rice, pork kaldereta, lumpiang shanghai, pancit canton, mix fruits salad with pili nuts and desserts.

For those who wanted to avail of their catering services , the minimum is 55 people at Php 300 per head or Php 16,500. They are based in Makati .

The show is until September 10, 2018 and there will be daily lectures and talks starting tomorrow. There are also about 60 stalls with different kinds of orchids, plants, plastic  pots, fertilizers and other items for sale.

There is a minimal entrance fees of Php 30 for the general public and Php 20.00 for students, senior citizens and pwd with valid Id’s.

Flora Filipina 2019 International Show

Flora Filipina 2019 is an international gardening event organized by the Philippine Orchid Society in close partnership with Quezon Memorial Circle administration, Quezon City government, Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture, Villar Sipag and other affiliated plant societies.

Other partner organization also includes Del Monte, Philippines and Manila Bulletin.

The first one was staged at the historic San Ignacio Church ruins and clam shell pavilion within Intramuros in 2006, followed by 2009 within Quezon Cityhall sunken lagoon, then at Hardin ng mga Bulaklak ( HB Flower Garden ) in 2012 and 2015.

This will be the 5th time that Flora Filipina will be held from February 22 to March 5, 2019. 2019 theme is ” Discover the Philippine Greening Economy

Highlights of the 2019 Flora Filipina Exposition

1.) Trade Bazaar– 100 to 120 trade bazaar stalls by plant sellers and growers from different parts of the country.

2.) Landscape Exhibition ( orchids, ornamental plants, cacti and succulents, bonsai, ikebana-ikenobo, freestyle flower arrangement, urban vertical garden, herbs and flowering annuals on display

3.) Individual Plant and Orchid competition – the public can have a chance to see the award winning plants and orchids.

4.) Horticultural Farm and Heritage tours– there will be some organized tours within Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

5.) International Conference– local and international guest speakers in different field of expertise will be there to share their experiences and present their papers.

6.) Tourism – There are between 10,000 to 15,000 visitors expected to come and visit 5th International Flora Filipina 2019 exposition in Quezon City.

7.) Daily Lectures and Talks– There will be some daily lectures and seminars to be conducted at the show site.

Note: Based on the 2015 Flora Filipina Exposition- There was a minimal entrance fees of  Php 50 general public and Php 40 for students, senior citizens and people with disabilities. 

The lectures/ seminar series is not yet posted, conference venue and speakers is still to be posted.

Schedule of Daily Lectures at the 71st Mid-Year Philippine Orchid Society Show

The Philippine Orchid Society in partnership with Quezon Memorial Circle and Quezon City government will be having their 71st Mid-Year Orchid and Garden Show at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak within Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.

Orchid show lectures

Starting September 2, 2017 There will be daily afternoon lectures, talks and hands-on seminar with wide range from basic flower arrangements, cactus, cattleya, vanda, fertilization techniques , urban gardening, table flower arrangements and fruit tree container gardening.

There will be landscape , individual orchid competition and trade fairs . There will be a minimal entrance fees of Php 30 general public and Php 20.00 or students and senior citizens with valid Id’s.

 

 

71st Mid-Year Philippine Orchid Society Show

The Philippine Orchid Society in cooperation with Quezon City government , Quezon City Memorial Administration with special participation of Del Monte , Philippines , Villar Sipag Foundation and other plant society presents to the gardening public the 71st Mid-Year Orchid and Garden show from September 2 to 16, 2017 .

There will also be a trade fair, landscape exhibit , plant and orchid competition,  daily lectures.

The venue of the exhibit and trade fair will be at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak or Flower Garden which is near the East Avenue gate entrance.

There is a minimal entrance fee of Php 30 for the general public and Php 20 for students and senior citizens with valid ID’s .

The lectures and workshop starts at 2:00 pm

Winners at the Cactus Fiesta Fair 2017

Cactus and Succulent Society of the Philippines held their Cactus Fiesta Fair at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak ( Flower Garden) from May 5 to 7 and the winners of the best in booth was announced during the last day of the show.

Cactus Fiesta Fair 2017

Cactus and Succulent Society of the Philippines in partnership with Quezon City government  and Quezon Memorial Circle administration will host a trade fair and exhibit called ” Cactus Fiesta Fair 2017” at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak or Flower Garden within Quezon Memorial Circle facing East Avenue side.

This will be held on May 5, 6, and 7, 2017 . Aside from lectures/ talks on various cacti and succulents topics, there will also be a trade fair and exhibit.

There are no entrance fees and the public is invited to join the fair. The fair opens from 8:00am until 6:00 pm .

Fancy Chickens and Other Breeds at the 4th Philippine Bantam Fanciers’ Association Show

Fancy Chickens and Heritage chicken breeds are the feature at the 4th annual Philippine Bantam Fanciers’ Association (PBFA ).

The show was in partnership with Philippine Orchid Society , Quezon City government , Mad Science, Iron Claw and sponsors held a 2-day supplemental show from March 4 and 5 at the Hardin ng mga Bulaklak within Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City .

The event started a little bit late than the usual show , When our small blogger group went to the show at around past 10:00 am last March 4, the organizers and members are still putting and arranging the cages and there are still some cages without chickens.

  I have met some fancy chicken enthusiasts from other parts of Metro Manila and from the provinces.  Proud to say that the author is one of the very few online sites which have seen the growth of the group and also who covered the event.

Arocana / Araucana/Ameraucana  chicken breed have their origins in South America. This breed was further developed in the United States and now gaining popularity in the country. This was later bought by a Philippine Orchid Society member  .

I also won a pair of bantam chicken a couple of shows and most of what i got are descendants of the mix breed . The announcement of winners was held at around past 4:00pm
