Savoring Pancit Liliw at White House Bistro in Laguna

White House Bistro is an ancestral house converted into Filipino dining restaurant. The house is also known as Polistico Mansion which was built in 1938 and reflect the art deco architecture style.

In a recent tour of Tito’s and Titas of Manila which encompass the towns of Majayjay, Nagcarlan,Los Baños and Liliw in the province of Laguna.  Our group decided to have a light afternoon snack at this restaurant.

I think Chef Justin Sarabia of well- known Rural Kitchen in Makati is related to the owners of the mansion.

The former ancestral house was converted into a restaurant and bistro around May 2015 and focused on serving Filipino specialties.

The white house bistro had several rooms which can be use to host between 12 to 25 people at any given time.  The entire restaurant can accommodate between 70 to 100 people at any given occasion.

According to one of the servers, They are open for reservations and other functions.  The group tried pancit liliw, club house sandwich, pancit habhab and softdrink.

They also serve value or combination meal. The furniture and fixture reflect a gentle era and minimal use of electricity with large windows and high ceilings.

There is also a pasalubong corner where one can buy their special honey in bottle.

Pancit Liliw

Pancit Liliw– This combines two types of noodles, sotanghon and miki noodles with sliced carrots, beans, slices of meat topped with chopped spring onion leaves. Php 250 per order ( can be shared between 2 to 3 people).

Some of their specialties includes fried chicken, crispy pata, beef kare-kare, tortang pako, chopseuy and Pancit Lucban.

According to the manager, The restaurant also serve Japanese dishes and there is a ice tea stall located at the ground level of restaurant.

Meet and Greet with Councilor Ariel Argañosa of Majayjay, Laguna

Tito’s and Tita’s of Manila FB group visited the towns of Majayjay, Liliw, Nagcarlan and Los Baños in Laguna province.

We left past 4:30 am at Eaton Centris in Quezon City and the first van arrived past 8:00 am at the church plaza of Majayjay Church.

Majayjay had a lot of interesting places and saw a lot of native orchids, ferns, hoyas along the old trees and ancestral houses.

Honorable councilor Ariel Arcenal Argañosa Jr. (PDPLBN) of Majayjay met us for a short walking tour of the town’s old ancestral houses, shrines, historical places and market place.

He was the youngest elected councilor in the town and god a seal of good financial keeping by the Department of Interior and Local Government ( DILG).

Lovelier the Second Time: Upcycling at Los Baños Horticultural Society

Los Baños Horticultural Society in partnership with University of the Philippines -Los Baños presents to the general public from October 4 to 13, 2019 the mid- year garden show presenting different exhibits showcasing upcycling.

Aside the the landscaping competition, exhibits, commercial booths, There will be local products for sale.

There is a minimal entrance fees of Php 30.00 for the general public and Php 20.00 for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The exhibit site is the Senior Social Hall of the University of the Philippines -Los Baños.

Stunning Landscape Exhibits at the Los Baños Horticultural Society 2018

The landscape exhibit executed by Mr. Bong Pionela and Mrs. Delia Pionela emerged as first place in the landscape exhibit at the Los Baños Horticultural Society 2018 mid-year show.

Aside from the landscape exhibits and plant display, There are over 50 stalls selling different items ranging from potted plants, orchids, fruit trees, flowering annuals, cacti and succulents, fertilizers and a trade fair area.

We have visited RD Farm several times , The name RD Farm stands for Reyes Despacio family surname . The first one was way back in 2012. For those looking for vanilla orchid cuttings and cacao sapling. This is one of the reputable farms to source your plants.

For those who wanted to visit the farm , here are a few guidelines set by the proprietor . I got some friends who visited the farm last week and they were amazed with the number of vanilla orchid cuttings and other tree saplings.
