2nd Hamster Fair

2016 Environmental Summit

The 2016 Environmental Summit with the theme, “Fostering Shared Responsibility in Integrated Waste Management.”  This event was held in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), Climate Change Commission (CCC), National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC), Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), League of Cities of the Philippines , National Youth Commision , City of Mandaluyong and the local government units (LGUs).

There were a lot of interesting and educational  booths from government attached agencies like  environmental management and sustainable development to reduce waste, improve processes,  , business value, private businesses , corporate and even international funding agencies .

Nestle-Philippines booth showcase the progress that the company is doing in recycling their plastic wraps and aluminum packs .  They have also donated the benches to public schools and other NGO groups.

The event started past 10:00am with a fashion show by the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines  or  FDAP members using local, native and recycled materials in the fashion show and a cultural presentation showcasing native dances and interpretative dances .

The highlight of the opening was the ribbon cutting ceremony by Senator Loren Legarda who authored almost all the environmental laws in the country.

Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc.
The vision of MBCFI is “the long-term conservation of Mindoro’s native and endemic wildlife and their natural habitats for the benefit and wonder of future generations of all peoples who may inhabit and share the natural resources of this island”. On the other hand, the mission of MBCFI is “to enhance and enable the conservation of Mindoro’s unique and threatened environment, biodiversity and natural resources into perpetuity through the establishment of integrated biodiversity conservation and development programs”.
The volunteers gave away interesting pamphlets , button pins and postcards to the visitors to appreciate and to create awareness.

2nd  Environmental Summit was managed by Artistespace, which is the event organizer from planning to executing events and digital marketing solutions.

33rd Ikebono Ikebana Flower Arrangement Exhibition

Grand Atrium , ShangriLA – Mall , Mandaluyong City , Philippines


Ikebana Society of Manila No. 67 , Inc with partnership with the Embassy of Japan and Shangri-La Mall presents to the general public its 33rd annual floral display and arrangements at the atrium of the mall.

This year’s exhibit chairperson is headed by Dr. Romeo P. Balderrama Jr., supported by the board of trustees that include Milagros Robles, Ma. Theresa Calunsod, Christina Abalos, Mary Co, Silvia Santos, Gina Onda and Dr. Divina Lupe Lazaro.

Professor Serapion Metilla used variegated fishtail palm leaves, anthurium leaf , variegated dracena  or chinese bamboo , white anthurium flowers and long stemmed ginger to create height .

Ikebana Exhibition in Shangri-La

Ikebana exhibition and demonstration will be held on March 10-13, 2016 at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. The event is in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Manila No. 67. Theme of the exhibit is Ikenobo PTL: “Praise! Thank! And Love!”.

Opening ceremonies will be on March 10 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. The event is open free to the public. There will be a display of Ikebana arrangements by members of the Society. Demonstrations will be held on March 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. by Ikebana professors Dr. Divina Lupe Lazaro and Dr. Romeo Balderrama Jr. On March 13, Prof. Serapion S. Metilla and Joyce Kato will hold their demonstrations also from 3 to 6:00pm

In 1983, the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Manila started as a Study Group and by 1984 it was declared Capter No. 67.Since then, the Society has been conducting its annual exhibition and demonstration.
