AXA Philippines  in partnership with Department of Health ( DOH) and lifestyle advocates launched an awareness campaign on the importance of lifestyle and communicable diseases.

L-R Mr. Dandee  D. Adapon , Dr. Renzo Guinto and Dr. Teodoro J. Herbosa discussing the silent epidemic that kills thousand of Filipinos each year

A panel made up of AXA Philippines representatives Mr. Dandee Adapon ( brand manager and communications head ) , Ms. Joy Anne Rempola ( segment head ) DOH Undersecretary of Health Dr. Teodoro J. Herbosa, and consultant Dr. Renzo Guinto discussed the state of health for the average Filipino today, as well as the possible initiatives for improving it.

“We are living longer, and the elderly population is gradually increasing,” Dr. Guinto explained, “but retirement age continues to be at 65.”  The average life expectancy at birth had gradually improved from the 1970’s 58  years old to 68.48 in 2010.

This means health systems will need more resources, particularly in the health workforce. It also means that individuals will need to be prepared, financially, to join the elderly population.

Expensive Medical Treatment:

Ms. Pratts recalled that even with both of them still working and have a stable income , it is very hard to cope with such unexpected situations.  She is not fully aware of medical insurance or life insurance .  She also wanted to let people know the importance of acquiring health insurance and its early detection .
