Bayanihan Community Pantry opens in Angeles City, Pampanga

Bayanihan Community Pantry organizers have recently opened another community pantry in Angeles City, Pampanga province.

The community pantry opened last May 2, 2021 in Side Grill within Barangay Lourdes, Mc Arthur Highway, Angeles City. The donation were given by kind hearten individuals from within the community and even as far as Metro Manila residents.

According to the organizers the Side Grill community pantry will serve resident every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00pm. While the community pantry within Barangay Dolores, San Fernando, Pampanga is open every Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The organizers are also requires people who queue at the community pantry to observe proper social distancing and wearing of face mask, face shield.

One of the organizer is behind the highly successful Kingspoint Community Pantry last month in ( Yarda Food Hub) within Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Among other projects are community outreach project like Medical Mission, Feeding Program, Gift Giving among indigents ,out of school youth and Katutubo Doon sa kabundokan.

The taste is milder compared to the usual inasal of Bacolod and Iloilo. There is free calamansi, toyo ( soy sauce) and chicken oil for every purchase of their chicken inasal.

6 Important Highlights of TernoCon 2018 in SM Clark, Pampanga

TernoCON 2018 open with a big splash in the activity area of SM Clark field in Pampanga province. The terno exhibit covers 28 finalists and winners at the recently held TernoCon competition in 2018.

It also coincide with “Buwan ng Wika” month of August where promotion of Filipino language, arts and culture is emphasized.

Preparation

From May 8-10, 2018 a mentoring and preparatory workshop was conducted at the CCP. The Project’s Artistic Director Gino Gonzales together with Ternocon Chief Mentor Inno Sotto, regional mentors JC Buendia (Luzon), Cary Santiago (Visayas), and Len Cabili (Mindanao) shared their respective philosophies and design processes with 30 participants.

6.) Promotion of Philippine Ternos– Ternos which is an epitome of modern Filipina takes it roots from Pre-hispanic era, Spanish colonial era, American, Japanese and post war era.

“Terno” was derived from the English word for “matching,” or ” to match”  has evolved over centuries. The dress also evolve from one colonial master to another. According to some fashion authorities, the design was from the baro’t saya and through the decades saw it innovative designs and modern interpretations, whether in structure, materials, or coloration evolving into what we see today.

5.) Use of of Indigenous Weaves or Textiles– Several of the terno on display use regional, local fabrics like abaka, jusi, abel iloko even old rags were use in making terno and evening gown.

4.) Collaborative Efforts – several well known companies, designers and cultural groups like  Slim’s Fashion and Arts School, Steven Tan of SM-MOA, SM Super Malls, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Bench and celebrities worked to make this project highly successful.

3.) Mentorship – Well known Filipino fashion designers like J.C Buendia, Inno Sotto, Cary Santiago and Len Cabili  who serves as mentor for the new designers on how to create a beautiful work of art.

2.) New Designs–  Twenty-eight designers were finally chosen and asked to create one cocktail version of a balintawak and one formal evening terno each as entries to the competition.  Unlike the old terno, all the terno exhibited at the TernoCon 2018 were design and created by these new generation of artist.

1.) Home Grown Talent– Mr. Marlon Tuazon which won the “GOLD” award, hails from the province of Pampanga. This is like a homecoming exhibition for the Kapampangan artist as well as many of designers who hails from this region.

TernoCon 2018 exhibit is from August 2 to 9, 2019 at the Activity Area of SM Clarkfield, Pampanga province. Do not miss this exhibit. There are no entrance fees and one will be proud to see the modern design concept by these artists.

Indoor Bike Challenge by San Marino at Robinsons Starmills Supermarket

San Marino and Robinson’s Mall started last year an advocacy to help improve the lives of the shoppers , thus they launched an Indoor Bike Challenge at Robinson’s Magnolia. This year , There are 3 legs of the Indoor Challenge, One held last June 3 at Nuvali , Laguna , June 24 at Robinson Starmills , San Fernando, province of Pampanga, and July 8 at Santa Lucia East Grand Mall , Cainta, Rizal province.

The Indoor Bike Challenge now on its second year with the theme “Live Healthy Love More“.  Robinson’s Supermarket gift certificate worth Php 30,000 was at stake for the fastest racer in this year race. The second place got Php 20,000 and Php 10,000 for the third place. Aside from these prizes, The participants also got a singlet shirt ,plastic tumbler, certificate of participation and free gift certificate from Elorde Fight Camp , San Fernando ,Pampanga ( Free 10 session boxing )

There was a registration area, Before any person would be allowed to participate , It is Free , simple personal information.

Then a stub would be given for where one must complete 5 or 6 tasked , The first one is a free sample of San Marino with cracker ,  BMI , BP check, and Diet Consultation, Kinect , WII , a Photo Booth and Elorde Fight Camp booth ( Pampanga branch)  where there was a special promo of 50% for those who wanted to enroll at their Muay Thai and Boxing Sessions.

There was  a selling area, where one can buy San Marino products and there are some extra freebies like pouch bag, plastic tumbler.

Exercise Bike Challenge

After the completion of the stub. We are allowed to participate at the Exercise Bike Challenge. Since the indoor bike units are limited – ( 20 participants per batch) The Exercise Bike Challenge was divided into 3 group.

The first batch started their exercise challenge for a total of 20 minutes at around past 2:15 pm , Our batch started the exercise challenge around past 2:40 pm ( second batch)  and the last batch started around past 3:20 pm. This is some sort of warm-up for those who are first timers.

Competition

The actual competition started with a short warm-up exercise and audio-video presentation.  It took about 10 to 15 minutes before the actual competition took place. ( 20 minutes ) the one who had the most pedaled distance in 20 minutes are declared the winners. (  There were 3 batches ). When the winners were finally announced, There are from first , second and third batch who won the first , second and third place.

It was a wonderful experience for all of us who participated at the challenge. I have not participated at the actual competition since i am not a competitive biker and it was observed by some participants and visitors that organizers should not have lumped -up those participants who are not biker by re-classifying the competition into ( amateur and professional ). Some of the participants have experiences in mountain and in outdoor biking.

Note: The organizers of the indoor bike challenge must be conscious with time management since our batch was initially booked for the 1:50 pm  but was moved to the second batch since only 20 bikers can be accommodated per batch.
