Traditional wreath laying activity was initiated by National Historical Commission of the Philippines , Office of the President , Manila Cityhall and the Tutuban Center Mall management .

Program

There was a sing and dance contest, parol making contest , Christmas store display contest . The Christmas lantern contest was participated by different schools in Manila . There were 28 entries in which the top 3 winners all came from Tondo High School . Aside from the bragging rights, each of the top 10 finalists were given some cash and token prizes .

 Choral Singing Contest Winners

3rd Place – Universidad de Manila

Universidad de Manila is a city college with over 10,000 students enrollment  . It used to be called City College of Manila . The choral group garnered a score of 83.6% and Php 10,000 cash plus trophy

2nd Place- Polytechnic University of the Philippines ( College of Education )

The choral group got a total score of 84.4% and bagged home Php 20,000 cash plus trophy

First Place- Pamantasan  Lunsod ng Maynila

PLM choir got 94.2% score and was the runaway winner . The group won Php 30,000 cash and trophy

Christmas Store Display Winners

 Otto Shoes – FIRST Place

The grand prize winner of the Christmas Store display was Oto Shoes . The store also bagged Php 30,000 cash and a certificate from Tutuban Center Mall . The third place winner is National Bookstore and second place winner is Chikatz Salon

Night Market

Aside from the usual 10am to 8pm store hours. There is an ongoing night market from 7PM to 12mn  where hundreds of stall owners are selling different kinds of cheap products from toys, keychains, t-shirts, mugs , fruits and many more.

Christmas Wonderland

The Christmas Wonderland opened its doors to the public last November 8  and will run until January 7, 2015.  There are about a dozen rides from carousel, kiddie kalesa, roaller coaster, caterpilar, vikings , bumper cars , ferris wheel among others.

Book Launching Program

We took a short jeepney ride from Ortigas Library to EDSA Shangrila and arrived shortly after 2:00PM.

We were given an opportunity to witness the book launching and autograph signing of the well known –Filipino -Chinese stand-up comedian, TV/ Event host, commercial endorser ,  illustrator and book author. He is the co-host of TV5’s Front Act. Best known for his Manila Bulletin-based comic-strip, “Chopsticks.” Chi has gained an underground cult following because of his unique comedic chops. He was a semi-finalist on the radio reality show, LOL (Laugh Out Loud) sponsored by AM station DZMM

Mr. Stanley Chi is also known for his humor and as Mr. Suplado. He personally greeted all the people , customers, staffs and passers-by at his book launching. I have met him on several occasions from Comic Convention , Toy Convention, Book Fairs .

 His newest book : Men are from QC, Women are from Alabang, your guide to understanding THE OPPOSITE SEX

Mr. Chis’  no nonsense guide and collection of hilarious wisdom about our culture, society, humor , pick-up lines and quotable- quotes are the latest of his over a half a dozen known book titles tucked  to his wealth of knowledge in our Filipino Pop Culture.

The book is available in all National Bookstore branches nationwide for only P175 just like the price of your  favorite snacks !!!!!! During the grand book launch, All customers at NBS EDSA- Shangrila that have bought Mr. Stanley Chi were given a raffle stub .

Mr. Justin Pinon is known as Magic Bagsik, Mentalist, Mental Assassin for a number of reasons, His ability to read someone’s mind is amazing. He had some regular television shows at  Kapatid TV channel 5.

Street Beauties- Ms. Julia Varga, Ms. Eva Ayala and Ms.  China Roces  add some spice to the event by participating in some games and banana eating contest together with some male participants randomly picked from the audience .

Note: I also purchase a book during the launching with the intention of giving them away this Christmas .  I earn a raffle stub and won 3 more Mr. Stanley Chi’s books – Suplado , Suplado 2 and Pogi Points. Yippe !!

Plus I think i left 2 more Suplado books at the Psicom office  which i bought  a day before the book launching  ( for autograph)  at the Manila International Book Fair some 2 years ago….  So to my book lover friends , Don’t you worry !!!!  I will just pick them at the Psicom office.
