Valentino Rossi together with Yamaha Helps Rebuilt Lives

Mr. Valentino Rossi  came to the Philippines on February 23, 2014 . It was his first time to the country and was amazed with the warm Filipino hospitality accorded to him upon his arrival .

Mr. Rossi is a  9 -time racing champion and is well-known personality . He came to help support Yamaha’s project ” LEND a HAND Project” . This charity effort aims to raise funds to help the victims of those affected by Typhoon Yolanda ( Haiyan- International name). Proceeds of the Malaysian grand prix will be donated to the victims of the typhoon and the sale of the limited edition Yamaha t-shirts and jackets will help rebuilt the lives of the people in the devastated areas.

A significant portion of the parking area was converted into a race track circuit .  More than 200 media representatives from bloggers, motorcycle magazines, newspaper , freelance photographers , television stations were on hand to witness the momentous occasion. The cheers and chants of “Rossi! Rossi! Rossi!” by thousands of fans, some of whom came as early as 7:00am

There were at least 10,000 people who trouped  to the venue site and a mini-trade exhibit was set-up .  There were fans from as far as Davao City , Quezon province, Metro Manila ,  Cebu .

I have went to this fair a couple of times. It was conceptualized several months ago by the group of Yoga enthusiasts ,  health and lifestyle advocates.

Ms. Julie Flores together with her buddy Ms. Girlie Lamanosa are co- founders of ” Gato, Tarjeta y Postales ” a budding group of postcard , stamp and letter collector . The group aim to promote the hobby by joining lifestyle and hobby related bazaars within Metro Manila.

I was able to buy some Philippine vintage reproduction of famous landmarks  like Binondo Church, San Agustin Church, Puerta de Parian, Fort Santiago , San Miguel Beer Brewery  postcards printed by Bookmark,   the Filipino Store sometime in the mid 1990’s . Most of the postcards on sale were the last remaining stocks held by the group.
