53rd Manila International F.A.M.E. 2011

Manila International FAME is an acronym for Furnishings and Apparel Manufacturers’ Exchange the country’s trades’ show for top-notch artistry and craftsmanship, continues to become a popular destination for best designs in home and fashion lifestyle products in Asia.

The organizer of the show is the Center for International Trade Expositions Trade and Missions, the export promotions arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Held at the SMX Convention Center within the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City last March 14 to 17, 2011 this trade fair is internationally recognized. This trade fairs not only attracts local buyers but a multitude of international buyers from all over the world.

Manila F.A.M.E. International is one of the longest trade shows for lifestyle products in Asia Pacific and the only accredited event in the Philippines by Union des Foires Internationales (UFI), a Paris-based association of trade fair organizers.

Daniel Latorre -Cruz- furniture and product designer from London, Stanley Ruiz – industrial furniture and product designer based in New York, Jinggoy Buensuceso a sculptor based in Singapore and Wataru Sakuma a paper artist based in Manila . 53rd edition, this event has evolved into more than just an exhibition for home and fashion lifestyle products. It also provides buyers and visitors the one-stop venue in sourcing products made by Filipino craftsmen, who now enjoy the reputation of being among the best artisans in the world.

The show’s curator, Maja Olivares-Co, found inspiration in our country’s rich resource of traditional raw materials in creating the show’s concept – TM/New Directions.

There are fashion shows, reception cocktails, katha awards, best exhibit booths and design contests.

The fair is open to local and international buyers during the first 3 days where pre-registration is highly encourage while the last day is usually open for the public for a minimal entrance fee of Php 500.  Sketching and taking of pictures is highly discouraged in order to avoid copyright and intellectual property rights violation.
